MAX ON WRITING:
People often ask me why I write. Simply put, I have to. It is my calling and assignment that God has supernaturally confirmed again and again. I am grateful to be given such an opportunity and take it seriously.
Not long ago, I was listening to an incredible interview with a missionary couple to Africa. Tears streamed down my face as I listened to how they had left everything and moved to a remote part of Africa. Story after story was told of how God miraculously used them to impact that isolated community. When the interview was over, I told God, “I want to do that! I want to be a missionary.”
At that moment, totally unexpected, the Spirit of God rose up in me and said, “Never say that again! You do what I told you to do. Write books. You are a missionary, and your books will go where you can never go and reach people that others can’t.” Since then, the issue has been settled for me and I have messages and letters from people all over the world whose lives have been touched through my books—prisoners, students, the homeless, atheists, plumbers, doctors, you name it.

My wife Alanna is truly my best friend. We love doing life together, even writing. She reads, edits, brings her perspective, and prays for me. Her name should be on all my books because she’s the vital link. She brings balance and insight to my writing and to my life.
We live on forty beautiful acres under an umbrella of live oaks and enjoy the simple life—sipping coffee in the mornings, sitting on the porch watching the squirrels and birds, feeding our peacocks, going for walks on the trails, or hanging out with family and friends, especially our grandchildren! We also have a hundred-acres of family land where I do a lot of my writing, so I included some of the fence pictures in a few of the headers.

MAX ON WRITING FOR OTHERS:
In writing for others, I discovered a joy and fulfillment that I never really knew existed. It’s the joy that comes from washing someone else’s feet. There’s something uniquely fulfilling about working with others to see their voice and message God has given them come to life on the pages. Whenever you write a book for someone else and help them craft their message that God is saying through them, you become a partaker in their anointing. When collaborating with them, I could set myself aside and focus on my craft and gift as a pure writer. There is a freedom in that. Every time I write with someone, a friendship is forged. I learn and I’m able to speak into their lives and they into mine.  With each book I write for others my knowledge and message grow. By lifting up other's platform, I lift up mine.
